Re-architecting hepsiburada’s taxonomy with card sorts

2014

Over 8 months, I conducted field visits, lab tests, and card sorts to help hepsiburada.com (the amazon.com of Turkey) simplify their taxonomy and redesign their search. This was in partnership with a local vendor who specialized in the context and overseen by design lead Benjamin Kappler.

By mixing grounded consumer insights, the local team’s expert knowledge, and an agile methodology the team I supported eventually reduced categories from 20 to 8, streamlining findability.

Impact
Increased revenue (hepsiburada’s President reported 45% sales growth in a company presentation later that year)

Innovation activities

I moved to Istanbul for 8 months to help this project re-platform and overhaul a legacy system. We made the following video for our executive group back in London to illustrate our lean design/research approach.
